DEBORAH PATTIE
I am thrilled to be assisting you with your child’s education! I understand the importance of spending time with your kids while they are still young, but desiring assistance with the daily grind of planning, grading and cajoling. I homeschooled my two children through their sophomore year, after which, they chose Running Start. I have 12 years of experience in alternative education; however, it was not what I originally set out to do. I had planned on having a long engineering career. I graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering before spending four years as an active duty Air Force officer. Afterward, I worked at Boeing on the original 777-200 program and continued for three years in the Air Force Reserve. While working the 777 program, I met my husband, Jody (actually, it was on the Seattle to Portland bike ride). It was during this time I earned a
Masters in Teaching from Seattle Pacific University.
Once my youngest child was born, I quit Boeing with the intention of returning to work after he entered elementary school, but that never happened. As a kindergartener, my oldest asked to be homeschooled, and I never looked back. With God’s help, my children became Jesus followers and independent learners.
I am excited about assisting your children in becoming self-reliant pupils. My prayer is to work in partnership with God and parents developing students who are ready to serve Him as a function of His calling and their unique gifts.
