HIGH SCHOOL

The high school program at The Academy of Snohomish is truly unique. We are often asked how our students receive the full high school experience at The Academy and, while not a typical high school experience, we confidently assure parents and supporters that what our high school students experience is unique, memorable, and prepares students for success after high school. Dream big. Work hard. We’re here to help students reach their goals!

School hours are Monday - Thursday from

8:30 AM -12:00 PM.

MORE ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Our high school students certainly will not have the same experiences as the typical American high school student. They spend less time in the classroom and more time investigating, competing, exploring and pursuing other areas of interest that they are most passionate about. Our students have so much more time in their schedules to devote to other opportunities and skill development that often pave the way toward a specific career path or area of study as they look beyond high school.

Each student has a unique schedule that can be built around their interests. The Academy provides the rigorous academics and equips students with the support and tools for success. The afternoon hours give students at least three extra hours per day more than a traditional school setting to learn outside the classroom. While students in a traditional education are acting in the school play, playing an instrument in the school band, or taking a media class, our students have the opportunity to be cast in the leading role with a local theater company, travel to Europe to compete in an International Music Festival or produce their own short films from start to finish. The flexible school schedule allows students to access training and mentoring from the best instructors in their field of interest rather than by what is available at their particular school. The Academy’s high school program is certainly not typical – it is incredibly unique, academically rigorous, and challenges students to pursue their passions with excellence.

A Unique Edge in College Admissions

More experiences help students focus on a particular area of interest which helps them find college programs that best fit their career paths. Students who go to college with a specific program in mind have the advantage of choosing a college that will be the best fit for their field of study. Colleges and universities are interested in strong academics but they also want to know students as individuals. Our students have more time to pursue those high quality extracurricular opportunities that help distinguish them from other students.

Accreditation and Approval

We do not seek state approval by a state or government agency. We believe that such approval is an administrative mechanism designed in an attempt to attain uniform education for all children in government schools. This process was established as a governmental means of causing local public school districts to meet what the state educational agencies determined to be minimum academics and facility standards for government schools. Accreditation teams, therefore, investigate and approve or disapprove facilities and curriculum in educational institutions according to the criteria developed by secular educational administrators who may or may not be Christians.

Accreditation of a private Christian school is not necessary for the graduate to enroll in a college or university. Registrars of such institutions are interested in the academic merits of individual students, not whether the school where they have earned their diploma was accredited. Thus they evaluate each applicant’s academic aptitude through nationally standardized tests (SAT or ACT).
